Artist's Comments

This is the same Mira as posted before except a little bit younger, before the events that took place in the book "Girl Squadron War Chronicle" (as seen on indyplanet.com see doukeshi.net for more details)

This watercolor painting was actually one of the covers for the second book in the Valkyrion Series titled, "Technical Manual and KAZUMI Project." She's waring an combat style NTAC armor that isn't worn much in NTAC anymore but colored in a Jungle Camo pattern.. :)

ArmoredSoldier Valkyrion, the Striker Valkyrion, and Mira Ravenous are copyright Doukeshi Productions

 Really, I've always felt bad because I didn't really plan out the background very well... just painted it black and threw some stars on it.... (TAKE THIS TUBE OF PAYNE'S GREY!!!)

The nice thing about this picture is that on the book my writer/editor Adam Schiller decided that there shouldn't be any titles on it... so, this is what it looks like on the book (sans watermarks of course!)

Thank you!!! I fussed for so long with the metallic effects that I was afraid I'd ruined the paper after a while... and when my writer suggested the jungle camo I was afraid of screwing it up realy bad, but I've always been pleased with the way it came out... actually, looking back on these watercolor pictures makes me really hate my digital paintings... :P Something about using the computer to paint just irks me I guess.... Maybe I should try to emulate watercolors more when I'm coloring in digital.... :/

Oh, come on, the background looks so gorgeous and nice! You should stick to this style!!

Well I know what you´re talkin´ about :-D... I always have the same dilema - to use watercolours or computer... but to be honest I don´t find any joy to do it the digital way :-/... on the other side as you said I am always afraid what happens to the paper for the water is water... you know :-)

;/ The worst part is to that stuff you do with traditional media tends to not have that edge you get with digital media... -.-` which 'friggen pisses me off... The other painting I uploaded ... the one with the red robot... is a beautiful painting in person but as a book cover? :P Yuck... :( but watercolor is so much fun... and even with a tablet... having to zoom-in all the time is icky... and of course you get that urge to zoom-in at the pixel level... :( Maybe I'm just not good with colors in general.... :P
:icondarkredphantomx:
:) Thank you for your compliments!! I did get a really solid black back there...

You are welcome!
